Study shows how proteins work in concert to resolve DNA double-strand breaks
From cancer treatment to sunlight, radiation and toxins can severely damage DNA in both harmful and healthy cells. While the body has evolved to efficiently treat and restore damaged cells, the mechanisms that allow this natural repair remain misunderstood.
In a new study, Northwestern University researchers have used cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo-EM) to visualize this process by illuminating the mysterious cycle of DNA breakage sensing and repair. The researchers believe this new information could potentially form the basis for understanding how cells respond to chemotherapy and radiation and potentially even lead to improved cancer treatments.

Can you give a brief overview of your company, the work you do, and the markets you serve?
METTLER-TOLEDO is a manufacturer of scales and laboratory equipment, and we sell our analytical instruments globally to a wide range of industries and segments. I was working for METTLER-TOLEDO as an application specialist in titration, developing applications, providing customer support, and teaching people. I currently work as a titration product manager. My main tasks are the management, maintenance, and promotion of our titration portfolio, with close contact with customers and our R&D teams.
