AMMAN Jordan and Iraq on Thursday discussed means to enhance energy cooperation.
During a visit to Baghdad, Energy Minister Hala Zawati followed up on the outcomes of the June 27 summit between His Majesty King Abdullah, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi and Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Kadhimi, according to a ministry statement.
The visit also followed up on strategic projects in the energy sector, such as the electric connection and oil pipeline between Basra and Aqaba, as well as the import of Iraqi oil following the Memorandum of Understanding between Amman and Baghdad, Zawati said.

Agreements signed to implement ‘green entrepreneurship’ programme

AMMAN The Business Development Centre (BDC) and civil society organisations have signed agreements to implement the “Green Entrepreneurship in Jordan” programme to help stimulate green entrepreneurship and create self-employment opportunities, according to a BDC statement.
Environment Minister Nabil Masarweh attended the signing ceremony.
The programme, which provides training opportunities for 120 entrepreneurs in the field of green entrepreneurship, is part of the SwitchMed Mediterranean Basin Initiative, the statement said. The programme is funded by the European Commission, the Regional Activity Centre for Sustainable Production and Consumption (SCP/RAC) and the European Union.

AMMAN Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Maha Al Ali on Monday visited Baghdad to follow up on the implementation of the economic outcomes of the trilateral summit that was held between His Majesty King Abdullah, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi and Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al Kadhimi in Iraq on June 27.
According to a ministry statement cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, Ali and the accompanying delegation held several meetings with Iraqi ministers, officials and representatives of the industrial and commercial sectors. The meetings discussed mechanisms to realise economic integration and achieve the economic outcomes of the summit.
