Fai calls for action against ‘real killers’ of Kashmiri rights activist Jalil Andrabi

NEW YORK: Prominent Kashmiri leader Ghulam Nabi Fai has voiced his outrage that even 25 years after the brutal killing by an Indian army major of Jalil Andrabi, a leading Kashmiri lawyer and human rights activist, those who plotted the murder were still at large, saying it was “the darkest chapter of India’s judicial partiality.”
At a memorial to honour Andrabi, who was also Chairman of the Kashmir Commission of Jurists, Dr. Fai, Secretary General of the Washington-based World Kashmir Awareness Forum, said that Major Avtar Singh, the main culprit, obviously acted on the orders from higher-ups amid the long-standing climate of impunity that the Indian army enjoys in Kashmir.
Indian judo team withdraws from Tokyo Olympic qualifiers after member tests COVID-19 positive
The judoka tested positive after landing in Kyrgyzstan. The team comprised 12 judokas and four coaches. Prominent judokas in the team included Shushila Devi (women s 48kg), Jasleen Singh Saini (men s 66kg), Tulika Mann (women s 78kg) and Avtar Singh (men s 100kg). All the four are in the race for one continental quota place. The Asia-Oceania Championships in Bishkek started on Tuesday and will end on Saturday.
It currently has a strength of 15 doctors and nurses to treat protesting farmers
A 40-bed makeshift hospital has come up behind the main stage at Singhu border to treat the protesting farmers who have been at the site for over four months now.
The makeshift hospital, which became operational on Tuesday, has been built by the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and is set to expand to a 24/7 facility over time.
Currently, patients are being treated in the temporary structure and also inside the INLD office at the Singhu border.
Common complaints
Those treating the farmers said that dehydration and fever were the most common complaints from the patients.

Asia-Oceania Judo Championships to act as crucial qualifier for Tokyo 2020 Monday, 5 April 2021
The 2021 Asia-Oceania Judo Championships will be the last chance for many judokas to stake a claim at qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, with the competition set to start tomorrow in Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan.
With qualification open until only June 28, the top athletes over the two continents will be looking to make the top 18 in the world across their respective weight categories - which guarantees a spot at the Games.
Apart from the top 18, a continental ranking list will also select the highest-ranked players on the list, providing the athlete is not representing a nation that already holds a berth in that weight category.
