It was snowing most of the day yesterday, although there was not much accumulation. It really does feel good to have heat in the house again. We had let the stove go out over the warm-up.
I have been busy sewing this week, and that is my plan for today. The wedding where daughter Loretta and her special friend Dustin are table waiters is Friday already. Daughter Lovina and her special friend Daniel will also go for the evening meal, as will son Joseph and his special friend Grace. Grace is a sister to Dustin and Daniel.

In a heavy 2-quart saucepan over medium heat, bring to a boil sugar, salt, corn syrup, and water. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Stir in peanuts. Set candy thermometer in place and continue cooking. Stir frequently until temperature reaches 300°F, or until a small amount of mixture dropped into very cold water separates into hard and brittle threads.
Remove from heat; immediately stir in butter and baking soda; pour at once onto baking sheet. With two forks, lift and pull peanut mixture into rectangle about 12-inch-by-14-inches in size. Allow to cool, then break candy into pieces.
Lovina Eicher’s son-in-law, Mose, was injured in a car accident Dec. 9. His injuries were severe, and he passed away Monday morning.
Lovina writes, “Susan is a widow at age 24 but she says her years of marriage to Mose were the most wonderful years of her life. They were married four years in August.”
On the evening of the accident Lovina wrote: “Mose had several surgeries … and has not been conscious since the accident. His spleen was removed, and he has damage to his liver and bowels, a badly broken right leg, and they put a pin in his thigh. He is at risk for infection because of some of the broken bones. He had a bolt put in his head due to head injuries, to take pressure out of the head. His hip is also fractured, and his left foot and wrist are broken.
