Taking the Covid-19 vaccine has become everyone’s ethical duty, whether UAE citizens or residents, to protect the health and safety of the community, Dr Saif Al Dhaheri, official spokesperson of the UAE’s National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority (NCEMA) has said.
In a media briefing on Tuesday, he stressed that the UAE is moving steadily towards containing the pandemic and planning the recovery phase, official news agency WAM reported.

Torrential rains caused flash floods Tuesday morning in Izmir, blocking main arteries in the downtown area and surrounding districts of Aliağa, Foça and Dikili. Calling the situation a disaster, the municipality urged residents not to leave their homes unless necessary. Teams with Izmir Metropolitan Municipality are working around the clock to drain excess water.
Some streams in the Balçova district overflowed, and many residences and businesses in Karabağlar and Bayraklı were especially hit hard by the floods. Vehicles got stuck in the muddy waters, causing traffic jams in the early morning rush hours. Twin earthquakes shook western Turkey on Monday morning off the country s Aegean Sea coast, according to the country s disaster agency.
The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said on its website that the first quake occurred at 8.46 a.m. local time (0546 GMT) with a magnitude of 5.1 and a depth of 20.69 kilometers off Karaburun district of Izmir province.
Only a minute later, this time a 4.8-magnitude quake hit the region at a depth of 7 km, Anadolu Agency reported.
Provincial teams have launched Inspections in the aftermath of the tremors, though no damage or casualties have yet been reported, Environment and Urbanization Minister Murat Kurum said on Twitter.

A Turkish airline professional from Istanbul rediscovered his old interest and has become an amateur radio buff amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Working over 15 years in the airline industry as an aircrew member, aircrew chief and aircrew trainer, Levent Tamay was finally able to allocate time to his old interest in amateur radio when the airline industry was hit hard by the pandemic from March 2020 onwards.
Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Tamay shared how an unpleasant surprise his temporary suspension from his job with reduced salary because of the pandemic introduced him to the unfamiliar yet exciting world of amateur radio.
