Lawmakers provided $5 million for work across the state
PRINEVILLE, Ore. (KTVZ) – The Oregon Department of Forestry is putting to work in Central Oregon some of the $5 million it was granted in January by the Oregon Legislative Emergency Board for reducing wildfire risk.
Of 37 total projects statewide, the agency has seven in Deschutes, Jefferson and Grant counties, totaling $442,000.
The projects rely on partnerships to improve community resilience to wildfire and restore and maintain healthy, resilient forests. Three of the projects are in conjunction with national forests – the Deschutes, Malheur and Ochoco.
