• Gainesville hasn’t changed. UF, as always, gets everything first even the vaccine.
• In reference to the guaranteed income, I think Mayor Lauren Poe should be first in line to take a pay cut from his city of Gainesville job to support this program. You know what they say: Actions speak louder than words.
• Congratulations and thank you to The Swamp for rebuilding in Gainesville a design that will be good for the people and the planet, the opposite of concrete-canyon types elsewhere.
• When the voters passed the latest School Board-requested tax, it was touted to be for renovations. As soon as they had the money, the School Board bought a very expensive piece of property in the western part of the county for a new elementary school. We all knew we were being lied to. This school was not necessary; there are plenty of desks available in the county. We were proven right now when they are proposing to close Terwilliger El

• Brilliant thinkers have proposed a new county that will solve residents’ problems by letting the problems just disappear, just like COVID-19 has just disappeared. The new county will be based on freedom freedom from taxes; freedom from taking care of homeless people; maybe also freedom from old people and people with disabilities who demand so much money and attention; freedom from so many burdensome rules about clean water and air; freedom from rules about spreading deadly disease.
