BCCC Advising Center Opens on May 17 for In-Person Registration

Press Release: Is Electrical Engineering Technology the right program for you? If so, what classes should you sign up for this fall? Meet in person with a faculty advisor to help you get your schedule together in the Advising Center starting May 17.     Beaufort County Community College will offer in-person advising for new and returning students in the Advising Center starting May 17 in Building 9, Room 937. The Advising Center will be open Monday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. with two faculty advisors to provide the academic information to students and register them for the Summer or Fall 2021 semesters. Walk-ins are welcome. Students can also meet with Admissions and Financial Aid staff while in Building 9. Everyone is required to wear masks inside of buildings. Limited Scholarships Available For Summer Enrichment Programs for Kids & Teens

    WASHINGTON, N.C.     This summer, Beaufort County Community College will offer in-person Summer Enrichment Programs for Kids and Teens on campus. The classes offer a variety of experiences- including technology, cooking, makeup, theatre, arts and outdoor safety for youth of varying ages. To make the programs accessible to more families, BCCC will offer one free class to every child. Parents will need to apply for a scholarship to take advantage of this offer. The following is a sample of the classes being offered. Parents and guardians can call 252-940-6375 to find out more.     Flower Pot Bread Baking     Rachel Jordan of Rachel K s Bakery will lead this program for rising 6th graders through rising 9th graders. They will learn about yeast breads and make them in flower pots. Students will take their flower pots home to continue making good bread for their families. This $45 program will take place on June 29 at 5:30 p.m.

First Latina Student To Earn Criminal Justice & High School Diploma at Northside HS

Press Release: Fatima Garcia overcame three separate medical crises to become the first Latina student to earn both a high school diploma from Northside HS and a Criminal Justice Technology Diploma from BCCC.     WASHINGTON, N.C     This last academic year has been a rough ride for many students attending Beaufort County Community College. They adjusted to new video and online classes, but some students had additional hurdles outside of class. Fatima Garcia, a senior at Northside High School refused to withdraw from college classes so that she can stay on track, even as her family endured COVID-19 and a car wreck, and she had an appendectomy with complications. Garcia will graduate this spring with her high school diploma from Northside High School and a Criminal Justice Technology Diploma from Beaufort County Community College, the first Latina student to do so.

Two Students Nominated For Statewide Awards | Beaufort County Now

    WASHINGTON, N.C.     Beaufort County Community College is proud to nominate Shantaja J. Brown for the Dallas Herring Achievement Award and Micah Guion for the Governor Robert Scott Leadership Award.     Shantaja Brown, this year s Dallas Herring Achievement Award nominee, will complete her high school diploma in Spring 2021 and her Associate in Arts in Fall 2021. She is planning to earn a degree in social work so that she can work with and advocate for children and their families.     The Dallas Herring Achievement Award was established by the North Carolina Community College System in 2010 to honor the late Dr. Dallas Herring, one of the state s earliest advocates of community colleges.
