Omagh mum s battle with second cancer diagnosis

Ulster Herald Advertisement Posted: 5:25 pm May 12, 2021 By Conor Coyle An Omagh mother of three has been overwhelmed with the response to a fundraising campaign after raising more than £120,000 for her cancer treatment. Jemma McGowan (27) from Knockmoyle was given just one year to live after being diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer shortly after the birth of her third child. After exhausting her treatment options locally, Jemma was attempting to raise £70,000 to fund her costs for treatment in Mexico, reaching that target within one day of setting up her Go Fund Me page. The total amount raised stands at more than £123,000.

Northern Ireland centenary: Fermanagh politicians look to the future

THE Centenary celebrations of the formation of Northern Ireland and the Partition of Ireland was one of the many casualties of the Coronavirus pandemic. Without the ongoing pandemic, Monday would doubtless have been marked with great fanfare from Unionist groups across civic society – instead, celebrations and commemorations have been delayed until later in the year. Locally, Centenary day plans were pared right back, with Enniskillen Castle being illuminated in purple, in non-partisan, corporate Council colours on May 3 to mark 100 years since The Government of Ireland Act 1920 came into effect, marking a respectful if muted acknowledgement of the milestone. Four finals coming up for Donaghmore underage teams

Ulster Herald Advertisement Posted: 7:00 pm May 7, 2021 SHARE By Niall Gartland DONAGHMORE will play four finals at underage level over the course of the next week or so – and while it’s certainly a demanding schedule, it’s a testament to how well things are going in the club in general. Their minor team are bracing themselves for their Grade Two Championship final against Cookstown on Monday evening, while they play the same opponents just three days later in the Grade Two league final on Thursday. Advertisement There’s some player overlap with their impressive U16 team, who are in action in the Grade One League final against Ardboe on Saturday, and they’ve also qualified for the Grade One Championship final, while will likely take place the following weekend against the winners of Killyclogher and Cookstown.

Hamspey: Tyrone aiming to make a fortress of Healy Park

Ulster Herald Advertisement Hampsey: Tyrone aiming to make a fortress of Healy Park Posted: 5:00 pm May 1, 2021 SHARE HEALY Park hasn’t always been a fortress for Tyrone, but Padraig Hampsey hopes they can change that widely held perception by the time Cavan come rolling into town for the first round of the Ulster Championship. Two of Tyrone’s group stage matches in the league will be hosted by the Gortin Road venue, namely their eagerly-anticipated match against Donegal on May 15 and their date with Seamus McEnaney’s Monaghan a fortnight later. A couple of victories on home turf would set Tyrone in good stead for the championship, and they’re conscious of their relatively mixed record at Healy Park down the years.
