Attorney updates court on absent client

A capital charge against three men came up before the High Court today but only two accused were present.
Rohan Alisaire Mario Holder, from Lammings Park, St Joseph and Kemar Peter Jamar Ward from Parish Land, Christ Church were present before the No. 4 Supreme Court but Sharaad Jabarry Phillips also from Parish Land, Christ Church was not.
Attorney-at-law Ajamu Boardi is representing Holder while Queen’s Counsel Andrew Pilgrim represents Ward.
Pilgrim also informed the court that he “formerly appeared” on behalf of Phillips and “I am made to understand that he is missing and believed/presumed to be deceased.”

The psychological reports were not yet ready and as a result, killers Torrell Sergio Holligan and Kadeem Torian Wilkinson will have to wait a little longer before they are sentenced for murder.
Holligan, then 17, of Pool Land, No. 1, St John, and Wilkinson, also then 17, and a landscaper of Todd’s Land, St George, returned to the No. 2 Supreme Court on Tuesday, where they had pleaded guilty at a previous Session of the Continuous Sittings, to the non-capital murder of 48-year-old Kenrick “Jack” Spooner, of Pool Land, St John, on July 13, 2017.
Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Alliston Seale appeared for the Crown, while attorney Latisha Springer appeared for attorneys Angella Mitchell-Gittens and Sian Lange.
Judge says fine must convey seriousness of gun offence

The folly of stashing a high-calibre pistol and ammunition for a “friend” will cost a Christ Church man $35 000.
Quincy Charles Atherley from Cane Vale has 12 months to pay the High Court $25 000 for possession of a M10 Ingram 9mm pistol without a valid licence on August 22, 2013.
If he fails to pay the amount in the stipulated time he will spend three years and 349 days in prison.
A further $10 000 payable in six months or the same amount of time in prison was imposed for possession of 13 rounds of ammunition.
Madam Justice Laurie-Ann Smith-Bovell imposed the sentence on Atherley in the No.4 Supreme Court . He was represented by attorneys Arthur Holder, Maria Arthur, Einsley Granger and Rhea Layne.
Killer admits to setting house afire

A manslayer returned before the High Court recently and pleaded guilty to a charge of arson.
Terry Cassius Seale, a tractor operator, from No. 27 Groves Crescent, St George admitted to destroying the house of the late Moreta Forde by fire on October 30, 2014.
Seale, who is in his late 50s, is currently serving an 18-year sentence for murdering Forde – a former Cable & Wireless employee – between October 30 and 31 that year. He was charged for murder but pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
He appeared before Justice Randall Worrell during a virtual sitting of the No. 2 Supreme Court where Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Alliston Seale detailed what occurred on that day with regards to the arson charge.
