BLM activists: Meet 9 people behind the Black Lives Matter movement

How Black women are leading the fight for Breonna Taylor 05:54 Over generations in America, the movement for civil rights and racial progress has been carried and organized by legions of dedicated Black women. After the killing of Breonna Taylor by police in Louisville, Kentucky, in March 2020, it was largely the work of Black women that brought the case nationwide attention, as they took to the streets imploring as many people as possible to say her name. Nupol Kiazolu, 20, is one of these women, a self-described member of the Trayvon Martin Generation. As a sixth grader, she led a silent protest at her middle school. Armed with a bag of Skittles and a bottle of iced tea which Trayvon was carrying when he was killed nearly nine years ago and wearing a hoodie with the message Do I Look Suspicious? written on the back, Kiazolu said she understood at an early age the mere act of existing while Black could be deadly.

The News Journal » After 6 months, Taylor transferred to state prison

Courtney Taylor, who is serving three sentences of life in prison without the possibility of parole for the 2017 killings of her husband and two teenage daughters, has gotten her wish and was been transferred out of the Whitley County Detention Center about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. On Feb. 19, 2020, Courtney Taylor, 45, entered an Alford plea to three counts of capital murder in the Jan 13, 2017, shooting deaths of her husband, Larry Taylor, 56, and her two daughters, Jesse Taylor, 18, and Jolee Taylor, 13. An Alford plea means that a defendant still maintains their innocence but acknowledges that prosecutors likely have enough evidence to convict them at trial.

A first-in-human clinical trial shows microbubbles augments radiation in liver cancer patients

E-Mail PHILADELPHIA - Primary liver cancer is on the rise worldwide, largely due to an increase in hepatitis C infections and chronic liver disease. Liver cancer is also hard to treat - it kills 750,000 people a year worldwide, making it the second deadliest type of cancer behind lung cancer. Current treatments include a targeted radiation therapy delivered with the help of radiation-emitting glass beads. New research shows that this treatment can be augmented by infusing microbubbles - small gas bubbles surrounded by a lipid shell - into the liver, and popping those bubbles by ultrasound, in a first-in-human pilot clinical trial of the combination. The findings of this study were published in
