Mariah Carey suffered a festive fail on New Year s Eve when she attempted to ring in 2021 with a rendition of
Auld Lang Syne and forgot the words. The 50-year-old superstar took to her social media accounts to share a clip of her belting out the famed tune a cappella.
But it seems Mariah was slightly out of practice as she suffered a memory blank mid-performance. Should auld acquaintance be forgot /And never brought to mind? /Should auld acquaintance be forgot, Mariah sang before saying, I don’t know how it goes. And days of auld lang syne? She questioned before admitting: Never could pronounce it properly.

According to Page Six, while discussing Carey s Christmas classic on CNN s New Year s Eve show, Cohen asked the chanteuse, When you recorded All I Want For Christmas Is You, did you have a sense that it was going to live for so long? Because it s one of those songs that you listen to and it still sounds like a brand-new song.
