ISLAMABAD: Smart lockdowns were imposed in six localities of Lahore on Tuesday after a rise in the number of coronavirus cases, as the country reported 40 deaths and 1,008 infections during the last 24 hours.
Among 40 deaths, 32 patients were under treatment in hospitals and eight in their respective quarantines and homes on Monday, according to the latest update issued by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC). Nineteen patients died on ventilators.
Maximum ventilators were occupied in four major areas i.e. Multan, 35 per cent; Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), 27 per cent; Peshawar 26 per cent; and Lahore 33 per cent.
A smart lockdown has been imposed in six neighbourhoods of Lahore after coronavirus cases in the areas rose. According to a notification issued by the Punjab Primary and Secondary Health Care Department, Bedian Road, Defense Phase III, and V, Faisal Town, Allama Iqbal Town and Manawan will be sealed for the next two weeks. The entry and exit points of the locations have been sealed. The timings for the shops are as follows: Grocery stores, fruits and vegetable shops, and petrol pumps will be open from 9am to 7pm, seven days a week. LAHORE: A smart lockdown has been imposed in six localities of Lahore after a rise in the number of coronavirus cases was reported.
The Punjab Primary and Secondary Health Care Department issued a notification for it on Tuesday.
The following six areas will be under the smart lockdown:
Street Number 1, Ali View Garden, Baidian Road in Cantt
Street No 7 and 20, A Block, Phase 5, DHA in Cantt
Street 21, W Block Phase 3, DHA in Cantt

LAHORE: Punjab government has extended smart lockdown in four cities amidst the rising second wave of coronavirus. According to separate notifications issued by Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department (P&SHD), Punjab on Wednesday, the smart lockdown has been imposed in hotspot areas of Hafizabad, Gujranwala-Gujrat and Lahore till 3-2-2021, 5-2-2021 and 8-2-2021 respectively. The smart lockdown in Lahore district has been imposed in 16 hotspot areas in six towns including Allama Iqbal Town, Cantonment, Data Gunj Bukhsh Town, Nishtar Town, Samanabad Town and Shalimar Town. In Hafizabad, the smart lockdown is enforced in three hotspot areas while in Gujranwala and Gujrat districts, the smart lockdown has been imposed in one hotspot area each.
