For the past 13 years, U.S. Africa Command has worked with African partners for a secure, stable, and prosperous Africa. In response to our expanding partnerships and interests on the African continent, the U.S. established AFRICOM in 2007.
The single most important focus then, as it is today, was developing enduring partnerships. The creation of AFRICOM has provided coherence to U.S. military efforts in support of the U.S. Strategy for Africa, enabling our nation to better focus efforts and resources on programs that make the most difference.

United States Security Cooperation Office Marks Six Years of Engagements with Kazakhstan’s Non-Commissioned Officer Corps to Improve Effectiveness of Military Training & Operations
Since 2015, SCO-Kazakhstan has facilitated four military training teams and multiple engagements to improve the effectiveness and organizational capacity for Kazakhstan’s Non-Commissioned Officer Corps.
The first military training event took place six years ago in Schuchinsk, where the United States Army Security Assistance Training Management Organization (USASATMO) team conducted a 4-week Drill Instructor Course to certify the “first ever” Kazakhstani Drill Instructors.

GRUNDY, Va. â The Wall That Heals, a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, will open to the public Thursday at Poplar Gap Park in Grundy. It will remain on display in Buchanan County through Sunday, May 9.
Opening ceremonies for the four-day event will be held Thursday morning at 10 a.m. Admission is free throughout the event.
Since its debut in 1996, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund exhibit has been on display in nearly 700 U.S. communities, according to a press release from The Wall that Heals committee. In April 1999, The Wall That Heals was on tour of the Four Provinces of Ireland and was also in Canada in 2005. The 2021 national The Wall That Heals tour is sponsored by USAA. Through a partnership with the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA), the trucking industry and Blue Beacon, the exhibit is able to travel across the country. Managing passengers and cargo on United States military planes, some of which will fly into enemy territory, is a pressure-packed profession that Liberty University alumnus and National Guard Master Sgt. James Segreti (’20) thrives in. But he said he is able to do so thanks to a strong faith in Jesus Christ.
“It’s intense,” he said. “When you’re flying into a hostile country or an environment where there could be bad guys out there who want to hurt us, it’s really an opportunity for me to ask myself those tough questions about life: what am I doing here, what’s my calling, how is my Christian witness affecting those around me, what if I didn’t have tomorrow promised to me, and would what I’m doing right now be something I’d be proud to put my name on?”
