LEGISLATION to make stalking an offence under Irish law has been brought forward.
The Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person (Amendment)(Stalking) Bill 2021 seeks to make stalking a stand-alone offence.

A campaign by two women who were victims of stalking to create a specific stalking offence in Irish law has resulted in the drafting of legislation to be introduced in the Seanad.
Fianna Fail Seanad leader Lisa Chambers introduced the bill into the Seanad this week, and hopes be able to debate the legislation at second stage in the autumn. She worked on the bill with Eve McDowell from Sligo and Una Ring from Cork.
