Dreaming of summer and eating lots of lobster rolls? Wait no longer. Bite into Maine has reopened The Commissary at 185 Route 1 in Scarborough for takeout orders and curbside pickup. Order online at biteintomaine.com or call (207) 289-6142. Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
The Bite into Maine’s two food trucks will reappear May 1 – one at Fort Williams Park in Cape Elizabeth, the other at Allagash Brewing in Portland. Bite into Maine is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.

The governor recently released “Maine Won’t Wait: A Four-Year Plan for Climate Action” outlining the steps Maine will take to fight climate change, beginning this year. Maine’s brewing industry had a voice at the table in Dan Kleban, co-owner of Maine Beer Co.
“We’re proud to live in a state that is taking the lead in terms of Climate Action,” Kleban said in an email. “It was an honor to be asked to be a small business representative for the governor’s Climate Action team because we understand the importance of having the private sector actively involved in the effort to combat climate change. By bringing together voices and perspectives from across our state, this team hopes to take actions that will work for the environment and all Mainers.�
The Year in Beer: Best Brews of 2020
In 2020, while I didn’t get to a lot of bars to sample the brews, I had some great luck with curbside pickups and even shipped beers. All of this, of course, was for work, in the name of research.
These are the best of my “sacrifices” for the year.
From Maine With Love
Allagash Brewery, thankfully, makes it to my neck of the woods (Wisconsin), so I can get some of their beers from time to time. I enjoyed their Belgian-style influence on a couple of their Little Grove low-cal beers: a blackcurrant and a peach/kombucha blend.
