Andrew Aukes of Lake Mills, entered an Alford Plea to Count 1 “Child Endangerment,” an aggravated misdemeanor, Count 2 “Accessory After the Fact,” an aggravated misdemeanor, and Count 4 “Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance (Marijuana),” a serious misdemeanor, stemming from an investigation by the Lake Mills Police Department on November 7, 2018. For Count 1, Aukes was sentenced to serve 30 days in the Winnebago County Jail and ordered to pay a $625.00 fine, applicable surcharges, and court costs. The fine was suspended.

Governor Larry Hogan announced another successful year for law enforcement agencies focused on reducing violent crime in Maryland as part of the Maryland Criminal Intelligence Network (MCIN). MCIN, a criminal justice strategy announced by Governor Hogan in 2017 and funded through the Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services, encourages local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to collaborate and share information to target, disrupt, and dismantle criminal gangs as well as criminal organizations involved in drug, firearm, and human trafficking operations.

The year started off with the sentencing of Kyle Hamm and Journey Wienke. Both men were convicted in late 2019 in the killings of Helena Valley residents Charla Rae Taylor, 64, and David Muncie Taylor, 61. The killings were orchestrated by the couple s son Kaleb Taylor, and juries found that Hamm and Wienke were also responsible in the deaths of these individuals.
Hamm was sentenced to 80 years in prison and Wienke was sentenced to life. Kaleb Tayor was previously sentenced to two consecutive life sentences.

Investigation Discovery is in the small town of Kamiah, Idaho, to examine the murder of Teresa Jones by her ex-boyfriend, George Junior Porter.
Teresa Jones was found dead in her home, having suffered a blunt force trauma to the head. The police zeroed in on George Porter, her live-in partner, who she had thrown out just a couple of weeks beforehand.
