Two extradited from Victoria and charged over $500,000 opal theft at Lake Illawarra
Two men have been extradited from Victoria and charged as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged theft of opals valued at more than $500,000 during a home invasion in the Illawarra earlier this year.
Shortly after 1am on Wednesday 10 February 2021, four people allegedly entered a home at the Princes Highway, Albion Park Rail, and demanded opal stones from the occupant’s personal collection.
The occupants – a 46-year-old man and 26-year-old woman – complied and handed over a large collection of opal stones valued at more than $500,000.

AS we waltz into a fine autumn weekend, we can think about spending Sunday afternoon at the Marburg trots.
Itâs the best with the âharness spectacleâ much enhanced on the 700 metre showground circuit where you can identify your fancy going down the back straight with the naked eye.
Gates open at 11am, with trials before the first race, which goes at 12.51 pm.
Eight races are programmed with a TAB facility, bookmaker, âfunny moneyâ bookmaker, mini-trotters, âpat a ponyâ, best country burgers, cheap alcoholic beverages, home made desserts and âpick the last seven winnersâ with $2,000 on a share basis if multiple winners.

There are two meetings to look at this Wednesday night, with my attention being at Redcliffe and Bathurst.
Down below are my best bets for the respective programs.
Redcliffe
Best bet – Race 4, No. 1: Recipe For Dreaming
His recent form doesn’t scream out as a coming good thing, but the two big ticks of Gate 1 and getting back to Redcliffe sways me towards his corner. He hasn’t been too bad lately at Albion Park, but he’s drawn the pole here, so should have little trouble holding the front and proving mighty hard to get past.
Isaac Murphy THERE could be no more appropriate winner of the Past Members Trophy than the flying Spring Cleo for Pauline Byers. Not only did the bitch extend her winning streak to seven but did so in a race that remembers late members of the club who made lasting contributions. Arguably no-one left a bigger imprint on the club than the late Col Byers who would have been smiling from above as his wife s greyhound of the year frontrunner did it again. The win was Spring Cleo s 10th of the year. With her ability to bounce between the four and five hundred metre trips in top grade, who knows what she could tally by the end of the year.

Two meetings to look at on Thursday, with Albion Park and Bendigo getting my attention. Down below is best bets for the respective programs.
Albion Park
Best Bet: Race Six Number 1 Vienna Boy
Pretty keen on his chances here. He is in a purple patch at the moment for Charlie Cini and drawn the pole, he should receive every chance.
Strong winner here two back before getting a second row draw last time and worked to the line quite well when a close up third. Hard to beat from the pole.
