Dayian announces candidacy for Montgomery County Family Court Judge | The Daily Gazette
SECTIONS
Michael Dayian has long felt that working in family court is his calling, something that goes back to his earliest days in the legal profession when he appeared before Judge Vincent J. Reilly Jr. in Schenectady County Family Court in 1995.
“I remember [Reilly] remarking that the ink on my certificate of admission had not yet dried,” Dayian said.
Much of Dayian’s early career was spent working in family court systems around the Capital Region, as both a private attorney and a public defender in Montgomery County. He eventually was hired as the court attorney for Montgomery County Court Judge Joseph M. Sise, then stayed on in the same role under Judge Felix J. Catena once Sise was elected to the Montgomery County Supreme Court in 1999.
OGDENSBURG â Ogdensburgâs new City Court judge, Marcia L. LeMay, was sworn in on Thursday â the last day of 2020 â following her election win earlier in the year.
She secured the election for the City Court judge post with 2,389 votes on Nov. 3, 2020, to Republican candidate Romona A. Breenâs 544 votes.
Ms. LeMay will be taking the seat of previous City Court Judge Gary R. Alford, who stepped down due to statutory age limits.
After graduating from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1988, Ms. LeMay earned her undergraduate degree at St. Lawrence University, Canton, and her law degree from Albany Law School. With 25 years of experience as a trial attorney and administer, an assistant district attorney, a defense attorney, chief public defender, special prosecutor and running her own law firm, Ms. LeMay feels confident she has the skills necessary for the job.
