COEYMANS A 38-year-old Coeymans man was arrested early Saturday and charged with rape, assault, criminal obstruction of breathing and unlawful imprisonment after a woman told police he had forcibly raped her.
Gary F. Brudnige, who is a registered sex offender, fled the area after the woman called police around 1:30 a.m. He was arrested by sheriff s investigators after returning to the area later Saturday morning, police said.

Albany police officers toppled a protest camp that had grown over days outside one of their police stations and made several arrests in an ongoing feud with demonstraters that ended in a simmering standoff on Thursday night.
Albany Police Chief Eric Hawkins ordered the end of what he said was an unlawful occupation by protesters camped for days outside the Albany Police Department s Thursday afternoon.
Protesters say they were given 15 minutes warning before their encampment was broken up. Eight people were arrested and some being detained, according to police.

Prior to those actions, police gave the group 15 minutes to disperse.
Protests began last week, after an altercation between demonstrators and officers in a Black Lives Matter protest.
After the encampment was destroyed, dozens of officers in riot gear formed a wall at two locations around the department on Arch Street.
Members of the State Police and Albany County Sheriff’s Office stood with them.
The officers were silent as protesters angrily confronted them and hurled insults.

JOHNSTOWN - There are two things you never want to see happen at a county jail: a breakout or an out break. On Sunday night, Fulton County Sheriff Rich Giardino was dealing with the latter.
After a year long pandemic, the first case of Covid inside the Fulton County Jail was discovered two Fridays ago when initially three inmates tested positive. We peaked Friday, two days ago, Giardino stated, We had 38 inmates who were positive, some of them have recovered and some have been quarantined.
Giardino says all 99 inmates who were locked up at the time were offered Covid testing, but many refused. Staff members, on the other hand, were mandated to get tested.
Albany man charged in October shooting

ALBANY – A 45-year-old city man was arrested Friday in connection with a shooting late last year on Lexington Avenue, Albany police said.
On Sunday, Oct. 18, at about 12:15 a.m., Michael Thomas shot a 31-year-old man in the back while in the area of Lexington Avenue and Sherman Street, police said. The victim was treated at Albany Medical Center Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Thomas was charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon, arraigned and sent to he Albany County Jail. Top Picks In Shopping
