Dubai: The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) launched its third smoke cessation clinic at the Nad Al Hammar health centre in Dubai on Monday. Totally these clinics have over 400 customers annually recorded a 14 per cent quitting rate in 2020. Globally the quitting rate is in the range of 10 to 20 per cent.
The first clinic was started by DHA in 2010 when studies pointed that professional support and approved cessation medications can more than double a tobacco user’s chance of successfully quitting the habit. Studies also found that without cessation support only four per cent of attempts to quit tobacco will succeed.

DUBAI, January 11, 2021 Dubai Health Authority (DHA) added a new Smoking Cessation Clinic in Nad Al Hamr Health Centre, totalling the number of DHA Smoking Cessation Clinics to three. The DHA smoking cessation clinics, which cater to around 400 customers annually, recorded a 14 per cent quitting rate in 2020. Globally the quitting rate is in the range of 10 to 20 per cent. Dubai: UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure discussed co-cooperation with Israel s National Water Company Mekorot.
Sherif Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure for Energy and Petroleum Affairs, has welcomed a high-level delegation from the Israeli Mekorot Water Company headed by Elie Cohen, CEO of the company, where the two sides discussed the frameworks of joint cooperation in the field of water, and exchanged experiences supporting the development of innovative and sustainable solutions in the water sector, which is one of the global challenges.
The meeting also discussed ways possibilities for creating joint ventures in this vital area, turn challenges into opportunities, work on the exchange of visions and plans, develop an exceptional partnership in this vital area, and the possibility of working interactively between the two sides to improve the efficiency of water services projects.
Dubai: Adding yet another feather to its cap, the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has been recognised by the International Hospital Federation’s Beyond the Call of Duty for COVID-19 Programme for its response to the pandemic, along with more than 100 hospitals from 28 countries. The recognition was accorded to MoHAP at a virtual event conducted by the International Hospital Federation (IHF).
The honour comes in recognition of the UAE Health Ministry’s COVID-19 response action plan and the way it has gone beyond the call of duty, in line with its comprehensive strategy. The recognition was granted after a comprehensive international review, led by a 16-member panel of experts from the international health-care industry.
