Controversial anti-masker Chris Sky arrested in Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY – Chris Sky may have gotten to speak, but Thunder Bay Police got the last word. Sky, also known as Chris Saccoccia, was arrested on Tuesday night by police after speaking to a crowd of more than 100 people at Hillcrest Park, more than an hour after a planned anti-lockdown rally went ahead at nearby Waverly Park, Sky did not attend that first event, having been told by police not to speak in Ontario or hold any rallies while in the province, allowed to cross into the province from Manitoba only because he’s an Ontario resident.   His supporters were led up the hill to Hillcrest Park by one of Sky’s traveling companions, following an hour of anti-Trudeau, conspiracy-laden rants about COVID-19 measures put in place by various levels of government across the country and around the world.

A crowd of about 50 attended a protest outside the Government building in Dryden Monday, with a majority not wearing masks, despite provincial emergency orders prohibiting such activities. Another rally was held Tuesday night in Thunder Bay with a few hundred in attendance which was in violation of the province’s current Stay at Home Order.

Parks Officials Recommend Waveny Athletic Fields for Summer Theatre of New Canaan 2021 Location

Officials are seeking to site the Summer Theatre of New Canaan s tent on the main athletic field at Waveny, near its southwestern corner the tent would be located near the pine tree at the curve in the road running north-south as shown at left, roughly in line with the northernmost paddle tennis court. Google Maps image Saying a proposed location near the walled garden won’t work, parks officials last week suggested Summer Theatre of New Canaan figure out a way to put on its 2021 performances on the main athletic fields. Members of the Parks & Recreation Commission voted 10-1 at their April 14 meeting to have town officials and a designee from the appointed body work with the organization to arrange for a stage, tents and audience seats to be located near the southwest corner of Waveny’s main athletic fields, north of the main road through the park.
