Porto researchers generating energy from waves

Porto researchers generating energy from waves Researchers from the Faculty of Science of the University of Porto (FCUP) have developed three devices that, from the movement of waves, can generate electricity and the goal is now to install them in ocean buoys. In a statement, FCUP explains that the study, published in the journal Nano Energy and developed by researchers from the Institute of Advanced Materials Physics, Nanotechnology and Photonics, had the mission to generate energy from the movement of waves . Within the scope of this study, the researchers developed three nanogenerators that can generate electricity through the movement of waves.

Israeli wave pilot kicks off construction

Swedish developer Eco Wave Power has started preparation works for the installation of a 100kW wave energy device on the sea wall of the Port of Jaffa in Israel. The works will include clearing the top cement layer of the relevant sections of the sea wall, followed by adding steel rebars for reinforcement and finally the creation of a new cement layer, which will provide the necessary support for the installation of the floaters, the company said. Eco Wave Power has also started the production of 10 floaters, which are expected to arrive to site in conjunction with the finalisation of the works on the sea wall.
