Loon should have been an out-of-this-world experience that transmits internet connection using a balloon service to humans, but Google s Alphabet has scrapped that venture and project due to unforeseen costs. The ventures of Google s parent company, Alphabet, has not been doing well with regards to its past performance as several projects did not come to fruition.

The Mountain View-based Google company, Alphabet, is looking at another failure on its end as the internet-beaming service that is based on gigantic balloons, has faced an unfortunate shut down. This is one of Google and Alphabet s unique projects that averted the normal features or situations in terms of services, as it uses a different approach.

Telkom Kenya plans to scale up its 4G network as its balloon-powered Internet partnership with Google’s affiliate company Loon comes to an end on March 1.
Alphabet, Google’s parent firm, announced on Thursday that it was shutting down its Loon programme because it was not commercially viable.
“Telkom believes in taking bold decisions. It was very exciting, therefore, to partner with like-minded pioneers in the adoption and usage of innovative technologies such as Loon, with the aim of filling in the Internet access gaps in areas that were difficult to service,” its chief executive Mugo Kibati said in a statement on Friday.
Alphabet To Ground Internet Balloon Project Loon
MOUNTAIN VIEW (dpa-AFX) - Google parent Alphabet decided to drop its Internet balloon project Loon that was launched with the idea of providing Internet access to rural areas and providing last mile connectivity.
In a blog post, Loon CEO Alastair Westgarth said they have not found a way to get the costs low enough to build a long-term, sustainable business, despite gaining a number of interested partners along the way.
Though the project was started in June 2013, it continued to be a long-term experimental project.
Loon is an independent business within Alphabet that is working to bring internet access to unserved and underserved communities around the world via a network of helium balloon-powered balloons operating on the edge of space.

NEW YORK - Google s parent company is giving up on a project to provide internet in hard-to-reach places by delivering it via balloons in the stratosphere.
Project Loon planned to provide access to a billion people across the globe who still don t have the internet.
Alphabet announced the project in 2013 to build a ring of balloons flying around the globe.
