Bristol24/7 and Watershed to host mayoral hustings

Bristol24/7 is joining forces with Watershed to host a hustings for those standing to be Bristol mayor.
The hustings will take place live on YouTube from 7pm on Thursday, April 29, with audience members able to ask questions directly to every candidate.
All of the mayoral candidates standing for election have been invited to take part in the hustings.

Bristol24/7 Editor Martin Booth will be hosting both the Bristol mayoral hustings on April 29 and a WECA hustings on April 22.
Booth said: “I am delighted that Bristol24/7 and Watershed are joining forces to host these hustings. No topic will be off limits to candidates, who will have to be extremely well-prepared to answer questions from people across our city.”

The pandemic has also seen a shift in focus for the Green candidate, who has put Bristolâs economic recovery front and centre of his pledges, promising to help the city rebuild and then thrive.
Standing outside the Station on Silver Street â a building owned by Creative Youth Network, a charity Sandy is CEO of â the mayoral hopeful said he wants to instigate a recovery plan that works for all communities and âespecially the areas that have been forgotten by the current administrationâ.

The Green Party contender to become Bristol’s next elected mayor has promised to build 2,000 new council homes over the next nine years.
Mayoral candidate Sandy Hore-Ruthven has pledged to spend £500million building new council homes and insulating existing ones by 2030.
The bold election promise comes after incumbent Labour mayor Marvin Rees struggled to deliver his pledge from 2016 to build 2,000 new homes - 800 affordable - a year by 2020.
