All-new Mazda 2 to go electric with a rotary range extender to claim the eco city-car crown from the Toyota Yaris Hybrid? Reports 2 Feb 2021 • 2 min read Mazda is reportedly putting the finishing touches on an all-new Mada2 city car, with the Japanese giant to unveil its Toyota Yaris competitor in September, ahead of an all-electric version with a rotary range extender that could appear in 2022. According to Japan s Best Car Web, the new model will initially be powered Mazda s SkyActiv-X technology, this time applied to a tiny three-cylinder engine that promises to be both frugal and fun, and will be reserved for the most expensive models, with a conventional petrol powertrain planned for the lower grades.

2021 Mazda MX-30 coming to Australia: Electric and mild-hybrid confirmed

Electric and mild-hybrid confirmed   The 2021 Mazda MX-30 has officially been confirmed for an Australian launch, with both the all-electric and mild-hybrid variants set to arrive in 2021. The MX-30 marks Mazda s first-ever, mass-production electric car, having debuted at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show and launched in production form in overseas markets early in 2020. The mild-hybrid offering will land in the first half of 2021, with the electric offering set to follow in mid-2021.
