“Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane is re-opening Lambda Lambda Lambda!
20th Century have commissioned a “Revenge of the Nerds” reboot (yep, they’ve been trying to resurrect this brand for a while) with Keith and Kenny Lucas (“22 Jump Street,” “Judas and the Black Messiah”) tapped to write and star in the film. The duo – pictured below – will co-write with Alex Rubens (“Key and Peele,” “Rick and Morty”). MacFarlane, whose film work include “Ted” and its sequel and “A Million Ways to Die in the West” produces alongside Erica Huggins.

Revenge Of The Nerds. Actors (including Adam Brody) were cast, locations scouted, and it was all set to shoot until the campus chosen for the film, Atlanta s Emory University, pulled out. It never returned in that form, but now Seth MacFarlane and twins Keith and Kenny Lucas are planning another new version, with a reboot in the works.
MacFarlane would produce any new film for 20th Century Studios, with the Lucas brothers writing alongside Alex Rubens and starring in what is planned as a total refresh of the idea, chiseling away at some of the more problematic sexual aspects of the original, and focusing on what it means to be a geek in the 21st century.
Revenge of the Nerds, an ’80s comedy that
really hasn’t aged so well, is getting a reboot. The reboot comes from
Keith and Kenny Lucas, who will write and star in the film, and
Seth MacFarlane, who will produce. Rather than stick to the formula of the original movie, this
Revenge of the Nerds reboot will be a “contemporary reimagining” that “will pontificate about today’s nerd culture and what even constitutes a geek in the 21st century.”
