ONE of Warrington’s MPs says he was surprised after reading a prison inspection report and finding no mention of serious concerns publicly raised by residents. In April, the Warrington Guardian reported how five prisoners had escaped over a period of weeks and how attempts to smuggle drugs inside are making life for village residents a misery. But in a recently published inspection report, there is no mention of drug smuggling and the only mention of abscondments was to say that the number has decreased from 22 in the 12 months before the pandemic to 11 since the start of restrictions. Among those who have absconded in the past year is Christopher Flynn, from Anfield, who was jailed for more than five years in August 2018 for supplying cocaine, heroin and cannabis.
