Marc-Andre Fleury made 19 saves to register his sixth shutout of the season as the visiting Vegas Golden Knights kept alive their hopes for a West Division title and Presidentsâ Trophy with a 6-0 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday night in the regular-season finale for both teams.
Fleury also moved into a tie for 14th place on the NHLâs all-time shutouts list with Roy Worters with the 67th of his career while also extending his personal win streak to nine in a row.
Dylan Sikura scored twice, Jonathan Marchessault and William Carrier each had a goal and an assist and Alex Pietrangelo and Keegan Kolesar also scored goals for Vegas (40-14-2, 82 points), which leads Colorado (38-13-4, 80 points) by two points. After a grueling season, the end was finally in sight, and the playoffs looming just ahead for the Montreal Canadiens. On Wednesday afternoon the team had one final game to play: a matchup with Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers.
Montreal looked far different from the team that clinched the fourth seed on Monday night, opting to rest a majority of the playoff roster. That meant no Josh Anderson, Tyler Toffoli, Joel Edmundson, Jeff Petry, or Jake Allen, in addition to the mountain of injuries already piled up for the Habs. It did mean the NHL debut for Jesse Ylönen however, on a line with Alex Belzile and Michael Frolik. Xavier Ouellet and Erik Gustafsson also drew back in while Cayden Primeau got the start.

MONTREAL - The Edmonton Oilers aren t planning to rest NHL stars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl before the playoffs, although Dave Tippett has the option of trimming minutes from their workload. They want to keep playing, they want to keep playing well and that will be our goal for the last three games, Tippett said Monday before Edmonton s game against the Montreal Canadiens.

EDMONTON There is no getting around it: The one team in the North Division that the Edmonton Oilers have the most trouble with is undoubtedly the Montreal Canadiens, a team that has a 5-2 record versus Edmonton while limiting Connor McDavid to just two goals and eight points in seven games.
