This is the most talented roster head coach Lincoln Riley has ever had at Oklahoma. As a result, there is a legitimate chance they win the national championship next season. The Sooners have always had a heavy offensive roster, but they now have one of the best defenses in the nation. Defensive coordinator Alex Grinch has assembled a fantastic group. Not only does this team have a chance to win a national championship, but the Sooners also have a lot of talent for the upcoming 2022 NFL draft. Here are their top five prospects for the upcoming season.

The Browns bolstered their defense Thursday night by drafting cornerback Greg Newsome II with the 26th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Now, we re onto Day 2. Unlike Day 1, the projections are much more scattered for where the Browns might go receiver, edge rusher, linebacker and safety are all positions that could be addressed Friday, but any position is truly on the table at this stage of the draft.
While a pair of 15-minute halves doesn’t exactly provide a whole lot for fans to draw conclusions from, it was rather interesting to see how some of the newcomers could potentially contribute later this fall and throughout their Sooner careers.
Offense
As previously mentioned, OU’s offense began the spring game trailing its defense, 21-0, and for a while it appeared that the ‘D’ didn’t actually need the extra help with a solid first half performance. Eventually, Oklahoma’s ‘O’ closed the gap before taking and holding onto a late lead.
Unsurprisingly, Spencer Rattler opened the spring game as QB1 and looked like his normal, active self on the field. Statistically, he wasn’t the most prolific passer on the day, but the general rule is that everything in a team scrimmage should be taken with a heavy grain of salt. Overall, the third-year Sooner completed six of 14 pass attempts for 116 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions.
15 NORMAN, Okla. Oklahoma enters the offseason as one of the hottest teams nationally. The Sooners finished 2020 on an eight-game winning streak capped by a 55-20 Cotton Bowl rout of No. 7 Florida.

OU returns a potential superstar at quarterback and several talented wide receivers, as well as a two-time 1,000-yard rusher who opted out last season. But there are several key pieces to replace, too, and serious questions about running back depth.
The Sooners defense will look to make another big jump in Year 3 under Alex Grinch, but that will be detailed Wednesday. Let’s start with an early projected offensive depth chart.
