Where in the Draft Can You Find Good OLs?

Where in the Draft Can You Find Good OLs? By TarkentonToJones on Feb 27, 2021, 9:34pm EST + A month or so ago, I looked at where good WRs come from in the NFL draft. The answer was that the great WRs are usually found in rounds 1, 2, and 3, with round 2 not being much worse than round 1. Many Giants fans want the team to draft OLs in the first two rounds despite us taking OLs in rounds 1,3,5 last year. What do previous drafts have to tell us about this? As before, I used the Pro Football Reference Approximate Value (AV) metric to judge good (AV = 5 or more per year) and elite (AV = 10 or more per year) players. Unlike PFF scores, that are just based on how well the player plays when he plays, AV is affected by how many games a player plays as well. Here are the results (elite players in

Bucs Top Signings in Super Bowl Hunt, Offensive line depth

Copied! The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made dozens and dozens of roster moves before and during the 2020 season, beginning in the days after the 2019 season and not ending until roughly a week before the Super Bowl. Of course, every team in the NFL made a lot of roster moves last season; the difference is, only the Buccaneers maneuvers resulted in a championship. The signature move engineered by General Manager Jason Licht and Head Coach Bruce Arians was, of course, the dramatic free agent signing of quarterback Tom Brady, who came to Tampa with six Super Bowl rings and promptly earned a seventh. That move alone, however, might not have resulted in the desired outcome if Licht and Arians and their staffs hadn t also bolstered the roster in many other ways. In fact, the Buccaneers actually signed

The Hook: Bucs 2020 Unit Grades And Top Performers

QUARTERBACKS What else is there really to say? Tom Brady came to Tampa Bay and exceeded even the most optimistic expectations with 4,633 passing yards in the regular season to go along with 40 touchdown passes and just 12 interceptions. He capped off his first year with the Bucs with a Lombardi Trophy and Super Bowl MVP honors. We knew the Bucs would be better with Brady under center, but not many people can say they predicate this is just his first season in Tampa Bay. GRADE: A+ RUNNING BACKS The two-headed monster approach used by the Buccaneers in 2020 worked perfectly. While Tampa Bay didn’t wow anyone with an explosive running game, it was efficient, and that efficiency and balance was key to much of Brady’s success as opposing defenses had to respect the run game even if they might not have feared it.
