VANCOUVER Further changes could be coming to the Vancouver Canucks schedule after one player expressed concern about the team s difficult road back from a COVID-19 outbreak.
A spokesperson for the NHL Players Association said medical groups from the league, the players union, and the Canucks will meet Thursday to discuss the results of medical tests and whether any further schedule changes are necessary.
VANCOUVER The Vancouver Canucks say some players need more time to recover from a COVID-19 outbreak that has swept through the team. General manager Jim Benning said in a statement Thursday that certain players have cleared the medical evaluations that they need to pass before returning to the ice, but “many” others have not been cleared and need more time to recover. “Our medical staff are confident the recovery process for those players will be aided by an additional couple of days,” Benning said. “Above all else the health and safety of players, staff and families remains the priority.”
VANCOUVER J.T. Miller says it will be tough for him to return to action when the Vancouver Canucks play their first game in over three weeks.
He can’t imagine how hard it will be for his teammates who have just recovered from a COVID-19 infection to play a gruelling end to the season while trying to stay healthy.
“This is going to be a really tough challenge,” Miller said on a video conference Wednesday, a day before the Canucks were set to return to practice for the first time since a COVID-19 outbreak tore through their locker room.
