Governor Tim Walz announced an end to the statewide mask mandate, but for school districts, the mandate is still in place. Gov. Tim Walz may have put an end to the statewide mask mandate beginning today, Friday, May 14, but his ruling will not apply to schools per Heather Mueller, Minnesota commissioner of education.
In a statement released to school leaders Thursday, May 13, Mueller stated: “Through the end of the 2020-21 school year (last teacher contact day), masks must continue to be worn by everyone inside school buildings or on a school bus.”

Students around the area will have an opportunity to receive the COVID-19 vaccine during clinics held at school.
The vaccine is not mandatory, but is being offered to students who are 16 years of age and older. Students who are 16 and 17 can receive the vaccine with parental permission. Those who are 18 years old do not need consent from a parent.
The clinics are being offered through a joint effort with Horizon Public Health, Sanford Health Broadway Clinic and Alexandria Clinic, a service of Alomere Health.
