Chamber of Commerce Concludes Independent Investigation into Harassment Allegations A December article in Business Insider alleged sexual harassment by the Chamber CEO in his prior position with the Alexandria-based United Way Worldwide. The Chamber of Commerce announced Thursday that it has concluded an independent investigation following the publication in late December of a Business Insider article alleging inappropriate behavior by United Way Worldwide excecutives. Joe Haggerty, the CEO of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce (The Chamber ALX) was one of the people mentioned in the Business Insider article. Haggerty was an executive at the United Way Worldwide more than 5 years ago when the reported sexual harassment occurred. Haggerty has denied the allegations and the article did not report on any allegations connected to Haggertyâs time with The Chamber ALX.

Hossam El-Helou told local media that some of the companies had resorted to selling their assets at any possible price as financial pressures increase.

All of these circumstances combined have proven to be challenging for law enforcement agencies. Kent will share what each individual in the community can do to help make Alexandria a safe place to live, work and play.

A hearing was also held on the rezoning of the south corner lot of 15th and Fillmore, the construction site of the Elks Club. 1971, 50 years ago: An Alexandria man serving in Vietnam was featured in the Sunday edition of the Minneapolis Tribune. Lt. John Martinson commands a platoon of infantry of the B Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry, 196th Brigade of the Americal Division. He is the son of the Earl Martinson’s and a graduate of Concordia College. He entered the service, attending Officer Candidate School from which he was graduated Second Lieutenant. He was assigned to Vietnam last September. His service is as an infantry soldier and his religious desires are to enter the seminary and eventually teach theology.
