It’s the smells and sights of fresh-baked bread, shortbread cookies and other Christmas treats being lovingly made by my mother. And, it’s the memory of the weeks and days leading up to Christmas Day, seeing my mother decorate the home with care, placing wreaths, garlands and other Christmas items she made throughout the house, that brings a smile to my face. So last season, I made a Christmas wish to return home to visit my father and mother and share these memories with them. I returned home, especially for my mother, to give thanks for all she had done and to cherish the last Christmas before her memory faded. Now we remember for her.
