Canon City Home Depot former manager guilty of misdemeanor theft

CAÑON CITY A Pueblo West woman accused of stealing more than $10,500 from the Canon City Home Depot store was sentenced Tuesday to two years probation. Katie Viloria, 35, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft as part of a plea agreement presented in Fremont County District Court. Two other charges were dismissed. During sentencing, Deputy District Attorney Aaron Pembleton said a large amount of theft took place over “quite a long time frame,” but Viloria does not have any criminal history. “The people did not want her to have a deferred sentence but did not want to impact her life ongoing,” Pembleton said.

Gainesville boys blow past Lambert; girls get first reg

Photo/Seth Chapman GAINESVILLE  Defense was the name of the game for the Gainesville boys basketball team on Friday against Lambert.  The Red Elephants defensive effort in the first quarter, early in the second quarter and down the stretch in the second half created enough opportunities to eventually blow past Lambert, 67-41, in a crucial Region 6-7A battle at Gainesville High Gym. The win leaves the Red Elephants (12-6, 4-2 Region 6-7A) in third place.  Robert Reisman paced Gainesville with a game-high 22 points, while Eli Pitts added 11.  But it wasn t all cherries and roses for the Red Elephants, especially late in the second quarter. After taking a 26-11 lead off a basket from Samir King, Lambert s Nick Stockton and James Tyre led the Longhorns on a 13-0 run, while frustrating Gainesville with their aggressive zone defense. The Longhorns zone held the Red Elephants scoreless for just over four minutes in the quarter and cut the lead to 26-24 by half.
