Earlier today, the New Jersey Devils and Utica Comets announced a ten-year American Hockey League affiliation deal. The link goes to Utica’s statement. Here is the statement from the Devils stating the same. The re-location of the Devils’ AHL team from Binghamton to Utica was approved today. It is now official: the AHL Devils are moving up two hours north on NY-12 to Utica. They will be there through to 2032 provided the agreement is honored in full.
The twist is that the trademark may not get used. At least not right away. The B-Devils will not become the U-Devils. The team will remain as the Comets as per Utica’s release:

Welcome to the 30th week of the 2020-21 New Jersey Devils prospect update! It was highlighted by Arseni Gritsyuk becoming a Gagarin Cup Champion when Avangard Omsk won the KHL title. The club rewarded him with a 2 year contract extension. Also, Akira Schmid stopped all but one shot in the opening round of the USHL playoffs as he remains on fire. Over in Europe, Benjamin Baumgartner’s move to Lausanne HC was confirmed and Nico Daws saw his season come to an end in Germany.

If March was a tough month for the New Jersey Devils, then April was an absolute nightmarish month. They began the month to turn their shootout loss at Boston on March 13 into a four-game winless streak. After winning a game, they lost ten in a row. The Devils went into the final week of their month of 16 games with just one win in April. One. And it was on the road in Western New York. At least the Devils picked up a second and third win in April before April ended. It does not take away much of the pain that comes with a 3-11-2 month. They earned eight points; only two teams in the league finished with fewer points in April. And one of those two teams was Vancouver, who only played seven games due to the Coronavirus. It was a horrible month for the Devils.

The World U-18 Championship is underway in Texas with some elite talent participating by Peter Robinson / Special to NewJerseyDevils.com
The past 13 months have been notable for its lack of convention, but this week marks the return of an international staple and for scouting NHL prospects.
The IIHF World Under-18 Championship is taking place at two venues in suburban Dallas, pitting a large swath of this year s draft eligible players against one another culminating in the medal games on May 6.
The tournament is open to 2003-born (or younger) players and is a 10-country event that, like most things in the sporting world at the time, was cancelled last spring. The tournament was moved to Dallas from Michigan because of problems brought on by the pandemic.
