Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi recently came to an agreement with Governor David Ige to keep the county in Tier 3 despite fulfilling the requirement to return to Tier 2. Under the reopening guidelines, Honolulu would have returned to Tier 2 if the seven-day average of COVID-19 cases reached 50 and over the city s seven-day average between March 25 and 31 was 58. As for vaccinations, Ige said Hawai‘i has been in the top ten states for vaccination rates. With the upcoming federal expansion of vaccine eligibility, Ige asked Hawai‘i residents to be patient because there will be more people than available appointments.
