IPSO: Standoff situation ends peacefully on HWY 14

The Iberia Parish Sheriffâs Office Bureau of Investigation is currently investigating the cause of a standoff that occurred this afternoon on HWY 14.
At approximately 5:30 P.M., a Iberia Parish Sheriff s spokesperson tells us that IPSO deputies responded to a call of shots fired in the 6300 block of Highway 14 in Iberia Parish.
There was a peaceful resolution to a standoff situation, they say.
A 32 yr. old male was taken into custody, according to the press release.
No further information was available at this time.

MOUNT VERNON – A Knox County grand jury cleared Fredericktown Police Patrolman Josh Jones of any wrongdoing in a traffic stop July 6 during which the officer fired his weapon at a suspect.
The grand jury found that Jones’ use of deadly force during the traffic stop was self-defense. The officer was cleared of any wrongdoing, Prosecuting Attorney Chip McConville said in a release from his office.
Darren Price, 38, of Howard was indicted by the grand jury on four counts: having weapons under disability, failure to obey the order of signal of a police officer and tampering with evidence, all third-degree felonies; and improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony.

A San Luis Obispo County jury found Jason Delante Wheeler, 38, of Oceano guilty of eight felony sex crimes, including four counts of forcible rape of a minor.
District Attorney Dan Dow says that after a five-day trial Wheeler was found guilty of eight felony sex crimes committed against a 16-year-old young woman he had a legal duty to care for and protect.
These crimes spanned from May 15, 2019, through March 7, 2020, and Wheeler was 36 years old when he began committing the criminal acts.
