Operation Street Smart to focus on drug trends, how to spot teen use

PORT CLINTON - Two upcoming presentations will give parents, teachers and community members a chance to learn more about drugs, addiction and how to identify drug use among teenagers and pre-teens. The Ottawa County Drug Free Collaborative, an initiative of the Ottawa County Family & Children First Council, is offering Operation Street Smart Tuesday at two different sites. According to a collaborative release, this presentation by Ohio High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) will offer the public an opportunity to learn about the current trend of drugs. There will be presentations at the Port Clinton High School Auditorium from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday and at Oak Harbor High School from 6-9 p.m. that evening.

(WBTV) - On Wednesday, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office arrested John Thomas Leach, 38, of Salisbury, for numerous narcotics and weapons violations. The United States Marshall’s Service had located Leach at 506 Harris Road, Salisbury. Leach had outstanding warrants in regards to a Salisbury City Police Department Investigation which included: assault on a child under 12, statutory sex offense with a child, statutory rape of a child under 13, and indecent liberties with a child.

Remains of 31-Year-Old Humboldt County Woman Found in Rural Oregon

Press release from the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office: On January 18th, shortly before 9:00 a.m., a Yamhill County citizen located a suspicious object near the entrance to Stuart Grenfell Park, which is located at the intersection of Highway 18 and Harmony Road in rural Sheridan. The property owner promptly called law enforcement. Yamhill County Deputies arrived on scene and began an investigation, eventually requesting response from the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit (SIU).  SIU members identified the contents as human remains. The remains were removed from the scene and transported to the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office.

Janesville woman arrested on child neglect, drug charges

Deputies with the Rock County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit arrested a woman on multiple drug charges after executing a search warrant at a home in the 4200 block of Chadswyck Drive as part of an ongoing drug investigation. According to a news release, officials arrested 33-year-old Kaitlin E. Heinzen on multiple charges, including possession with intent to deliver cocaine base, possession of THC, possession of paraphernalia, maintaining a drug trafficking place, possession of MDMA, and child neglect. Officials said Heinzen was booked into the Rock County Jail and released with a court date set for Feb. 5.

It started as a home invasion in unincorporated Turlock on March 17, 2020, and resulted in a long investigation into the Norteno criminal street gang. After detectives determined 26-year-old Adrian Ortiz was a suspect, they obtained a wiretap warrant for his phone and others involved. During the wiretap, detectives say they learned of upcoming drug deals, drug houses, how the gang would tax their members and even business owners in the area that the gang claimed: belonged to them.
