Dvorak s rising role taking flight with Coyotes

March 12, 2021 Arizona Coyotes forward Christian Dvorak has become the team’s top center, thanks in part to studying one of the game’s best at his position, Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron. Dvorak (left) is “putting the extra time in and he’s getting rewarded,” Coyotes coach Rick Tocchet said. (Photo by Alina Nelson/Cronkite News) PHOENIX – Arizona Coyotes forward Christian Dvorak has returned to school. No, not in a classroom with a paper and pencil in hand. Rather, on the ice with a set of mitts and a freshly taped stick. Dvorak has evolved into the Coyotes’ top center in his fifth season with the team, thanks in part to studying one of the game’s best at his position, Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron.

Kimani Lawrence morphs into one of ASU s top performers

March 9, 2021 Kimani Lawrence has been a difference maker for the Arizona State men’s basketball team in its final seven games, averaging 14.3 points and 8.4 rebounds. (Photo by Alina Nelson/Cronkite News) TEMPE – As Arizona State prepared to take on the Washington Huskies, the command from coach Bobby Hurley to Kimani Lawrence was simple: “Hey, I need 20 rebounds from you tonight.” Whether serious or farcical, the message was received by the senior forward, who delivered two nights later by posting 21 points and a career-high 20 rebounds in an 80-72 win over those same Huskies. Lawrence became the first Sun Devil to score 20 points and collect 20 rebounds in a game since Mike Batiste put up 36 points and 20 rebounds against Wagner in November 1997.

Is it ethical for sports fans to be back in attendance?

March 8, 2021 Fan attendance at sporting events isn’t just an issue about health, it’s an issue about ethics, especially when it comes to prioritizing. (Photo by Alina Nelson/Cronkite News) TEMPE – Gloves are popping. Bats are cracking. And gates are opening. Spring training baseball is back. But should it be? And, more important, should fans be able to attend the games just when the end to a global pandemic seems within reach? These aren’t just health questions. They’re ethical ones. “If it’s safe for baseball teams to be practicing and to travel here from all sorts of other parts of the country and set up, then why isn’t it (safe) for the symphony orchestra to be playing? Or for all the museums to be open?” said Dr. Mary Feeney, a Lincoln Professor of Ethics in Public Affairs at Arizona State University.
