esVolta Gets Investment From Macquarie

socaltech.com Aliso Viejo-based utility-scale energy storage project developer esVolta has received an investment from Macquarie s Green Investment Group (GIG), Macquarie announced this morning. Size of the investment was not announced. According to Macquarie, the investment will support the continued North American expansion of esVolta and finance its portfolio of over 600 MWh of contracted energy storage projects, plus an additional pipeline of more than 2 GWh of projects. Most of esVolta s projects are in California, which is in the midst of rapidly expanding its energy storage efforts to help de-carbonize its energy. esVolta said the deal requires approval of The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. esVolta is one of the companies looking to help California meet its target of 60% renewable power by 2030 and 100% by 2045, which requires energy storage overnight when solar power is not available.

Letters to the Editor: Mayor Richard Riordan remembers Tom LaBonge the peacemaker

Letters to the Editor: Mayor Richard Riordan remembers Tom LaBonge the peacemaker © (Los Angeles Times) City Councilman Tom LaBonge walks on Mount Lee above the Hollywood Sign on April 26, 2010. (Los Angeles Times) To the editor: My heart broke when I heard of former L.A. City Councilman Tom LaBonge s sudden death. He was my dear friend and a consummate public servant who loved Los Angeles. Honest, jovial and smart, he was a master navigator of our city s complex bureaucracy, equally skilled at getting streets fixed and calming upset residents. Tom was chief of field operations when I was mayor. I vividly remember the day we accompanied Atty. Gen. Janet Reno on a tour of Pico Aliso Village.

Letter: Meterless Paid Parking Spaces - Laguna Beach Local News

Laguna Beach Local News The Top of the World neighborhood is being inundated with visitors to enjoy the views and recreation opportunities at Alta Laguna Park and the Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park. Most visitors are respectful, but some commit crimes and cause problems including trash, graffiti, alcohol use, smoking, and even public urination. Increased police and fire protection is called for, but unfortunately visitors provide little or no tax revenue to the City. I think we ought to explore having meterless paid parking spaces in the Alta Laguna Park parking lot, and along a stretch of Alta Laguna Boulevard, and, perhaps elsewhere. Here’s my thinking:

Can at-home tests help Orange County get a handle on the pandemic?

Orange County residents can now test themselves for COVID-19 in the safety of their homes. Officials this week expanded an at-home testing program to the entire county as part of a continuing move to make testing more accessible to residents. The program began a little over two weeks ago when the county ordered 500,000 at-home tests. The first few weeks were reserved for residents of Santa Ana and Anaheim, the cities hit hardest by the virus. “We want to make it accessible to all segments of the population,” county Supervisor Andrew Do said in an interview. “There are some who may be reluctant to go into a clinic, hospital or drive-through and have to deal with people.”
