Fascinating stories from Ely Cemetery s 170-year history were shared at a post-lockdown open day.
With 16,000 former residents of the city buried there, The Friends of Ely Cemetery held two guided tours to share the stories behind the stones.
For children, there was a nature trail to explore, while a book sale raised money towards the Friends projects.

Question: When Sierra Nevada reopens on May 12, why are the outdoor areas being kept closed? Presumably, that would be safer than indoor dining.
My answer: Please tell me May 12 is a national holiday. Otherwise, I feel a 24-hour bug coming on.
Real answer: Sierra Nevada, the beer palace of Mills River known for its huge indoor restaurant and outdoor amphitheater and seating, is indeed reopening this week. The outdoor area will be open, with a caveat.
