SIR – What a shambles! I am a staunch Conservative but I have to agree with comments made by Sir Keir Starmer on the news channels.
The Prime Minister made two huge errors. He should have sacked Dominic Cummings after his spree at Barnard Castle and Matt Hancock immediately, instead of saying, after he had received an apology, that the matter was “closed”.
The Prime Minister needs to be more like Churchill, who had the strength of character to replace at least one close friend in his Cabinet during the Second World War as he deemed it necessary.
Majority of parents warn pandemic has made children less active
More than two-thirds of parents have warned their children are less physically active than before the start of the pandemic in a new survey.
The research, commissioned by children’s charity the Youth Sport Trust, found only a fifth of parents say their children are active for the recommended 60 minutes a day.
A further 11% say their children are currently doing no activity at all.
The Youth Sport Trust have called on the remainder of this academic year to be characterised by a renewed focus on sport, physical activity and physical education.

More than two-thirds of UK parents believe their children have become less active during the pandemic, new research has found, placing more pressure on schools before their reopening next week.
A survey by the leading charity the Youth Sport Trust found 78% of parents said their children were doing less than the government’s recommended 60 minutes of activity a day, while 11% of parents said their children are doing no physical activity at all. The total who said the amount had decreased in the past year was 68%, while only 15% said it had stayed the same.
