Residents in Alaska Looking to Limit Cruise Line Activity
Some residents in Juneau, Alaska are moving against cruises and want to put a limit on cruise ships that could have an impact on local business.

As the pandemic keeps cruise ships grounded, many people are eagerly awaiting cruise ships’ return to their hometowns. While the cruise industry supports many local businesses and families, it seems not everyone is a fan of cruise ships in Juneau, Alaska.

lawsuits against the CDC to restart Alaskan Cruise tourism, a group of local activists, organized under a global effort called the Global Cruise Activist Network has filed several amendments to the city government to limit the days cruise ships can come to the port, limit the maximum tonnage of ships allowed to dock, and place limits on the time the ships can stay in port.

Moore, who grew up in (âa small townâ) Greenfield, first came to Shelbyville when she married her husband, Bob, who was from here.
âShe got married at 21, and he was 23,â said Mooreâs caretaker, Vanessa Carlin.
Moore met her husband at the skating rink in Shelbyville.
âWhat was it you said? You and your girlfriends went there to meet some fellas, and you sure met one, right?â Carlin said.
âWe married the ones we met,â Moore said.
She was married to Bob for nearly 70 years, until he passed away. She had two boys and a girl with him.
Moore has eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
