It’s a sort of custom Harley-Davidson FXDR weekend here at autoevolution. After yesterday we talked a bit about the uber-expensive GT-3 motorcycle, now it’s time for a relatively more affordable piece of engineering, but perhaps equally as exciting.
Here we have a preloved Street Glide Special 107ci in show stopping Hard Candy Black Gold Flake. A touring machine built for comfort and crushing miles. The Street Glide Special has lockable saddlebags, GPS, cruise control, and Boom! Box 4.3 Infotainment. Previous customer fitted a reverse gear, Stage 1 with Screamin Eagle pipes, passenger backrest and luggage rack. This week started with what may very well be Harley-Davidson’s biggest announcement of the year: the launch of the Pan America family of adventure bikes. As weapons to attack a whole new segment for the Milwaukee company, the two bikes come, of course, accompanied by a long list of customization choices. 16 photos
Together with the details on the Pan America, Harley also released info on what it has to offer as factory-supplied equipment for the two-wheelers. Everything is on the table, from luggage sets to windshields, highlighting the importance of the new moniker for the Americans.
Custom Harley-Davidson Road King Looks All Army and Big 13 Feb 2021, 8:48 UTC ·

As one of two American bike makers to have survived the Great Depression, Harley-Davidson was then held afloat by the contracts it signed with the U.S. Army for the delivery of motorcycles. Its two-wheelers, dubbed WLA, swarmed in large numbers (some 90,000 were deployed) on the world’s battlefields, and are still very sought after today in the collector’s world. 21 photos
The bike we have here was born long after production of the WLA ended, and it was not meant for the Army. Yet, customization work performed on it in general, and particularly the hue sprayed all over the body parts, remind us of the glory days of the serving Harley-Davidsons.
1997 Harley-Davidson Heritage Is a Canepa Special, Looks Like a 1950’s Custom 2 Feb 2021, 16:35 UTC ·

We’re used to seeing extreme interpretations of Harley-Davidson motorcycles coming from all over the world. Each of those builds has something special about it, but not all give you the feeling that they were made just right. The Heritage we have here does seem to bring that peace of mind. 14 photos
The bike was originally a 1997 Milwaukee creation, but work conducted on it by Canepa, known more for the cars it handles and ultimately sells, and an army of custom shops transformed it into something looking more like a custom machine from the 1950s. This was by design, not by accident, because who doesn’t love a vintage-looking motorcycle?
