MONTGOMERY, AL Gov. Kay Ivey announced Wednesday she plans to run for another term as Alabama s governor. The gubernatorial election is set for November 2022, but speculation surrounding Ivey s health had many experts unsure of her intentions for the future.
Ivey, 76, was diagnosed with cancer in 2019 but was given a clean bill of health in 2020, giving her the green light to continue a political career that has now spanned nearly 20 years. Alabamians have shown the rest of the nation that our faith, resilience and common sense are what makes us and drives us forward to a promising future, Ivey said in a news release. I am proud to be your governor and would be honored to serve you for a second term. Alabama is working again, and the best is yet to come.

The new policy is to ensure that students complete or opt out of FAFSA before graduating from high school.
