Lee Brice to headline Houstonâs 2021 virtual Freedom Over Texas article
HOUSTON - Houston’s annual Freedom Over Texas Fourth of July celebration will be held virtually for one more year.
Lee Brice will headline the show that will feature a lineup of entertainers via live broadcast.
The public will be able to view a fireworks show from neighborhood parks, including Eleanor Tinsley Park.
The annual celebration typically features a festival and live performances along Buffalo Bayou in Eleanor Tinsley and Sam Houston Parks. Last year, Freedom Over Texas was held virtually, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with musical performances and a fireworks finale.

HOUSTON Houston will have to wait another year for the full return of Freedom Over Texas, the city s annual Fourth of July celebration.
Mayor Sylvester Turner confirmed Tuesday the fireworks show will go on and spectators will be allowed to gather at Houston s many parks, including Eleanor Tinsley. However, the concert will be televised and streamed online.
The reimagined Fourth of July celebration will honor America s frontline heroes.
While I wish we could hold a huge Fourth of July celebration downtown, we re not just yet there , Mayor Sylvester Turn said Tuesday in announcing the particulars of the 2021 Shell Freedom Over Texas Independence Day celebration.
So it ll be live streamed and virtual one more time complete with fireworks the same as in 2020. Turner explained that six weeks ago they couldn t have predicted where the area is today in regards to the possible transmission of COVID-19 and it s too late to change their plans now.
ABC13 will once again broadcast the event from 7-10 p.m. on the holiday with live entertainment and fireworks. Residents can watch the proceedings outdoors from afar but gatherings are not allowed.
