FIFA in “criminal mismanagement” complaint against Sepp Blatter over £421m deal

FIFA have issued a complaint of “criminal mismanagement” against their former president Sepp Blatter.
The complaint relates to the FIFA museum project in Zurich, with the complaint having been sent to the Zurich prosecutor.
What is the complaint?
The complaint targets Blatter, who resigned as FIFA president in 2015 after 17 years in the role, and other former officials.
They are alleged by FIFA to have been directly involved in activities relating to agreements to do with the museum.
FIFA s statement says the project cost 500 million Swiss Francs (£421 million).

Fifa said their complaint identified the direct involvement of former Fifa President Joseph S. Blatter together with other persons in the agreements made for the Fifa World Football Museum which is in central Zurich. The complaint includes the entire project costs at CHF 500 million (US$564.59 million), and identifies that the previous Fifa administration poured CHF 140 million into renovating and refurbishing a building that the organisation doesn’t own, while also locking itself into a long-term rental agreement on unfavourable terms when compared to standard market rates,

FIFA has filed a criminal complaint against former president Sepp Blatter over the finances of its loss-making soccer museum in Zurich.
Soccer s governing body said on Tuesday it suspected criminal mismanagement by FIFA s former management and companies appointed by them to work on the museum long seen as a pet project of Blatter s in a renovated and rented city center building.
The FIFA World Football Museum opened in 2016 after $140 million of soccer money was spent refurbishing the 1970s office building to also include 34 rental apartments.
