Portsmouth can be winter city like Edmonton? Planner says yes
PORTSMOUTH To make this New Hampshire city more vibrant and inviting throughout the whole wintertime, creative risks are a must, according to award-winning urban designer and planner Simon O’Byrne.
Portsmouth Smart Growth, the volunteer group aiming to promote ideas and discussion on community planning and development, hosted O’Byrne for a virtual discussion Wednesday evening on how to activate Portsmouth as a winter city.
Implementing winter-themed activities and stations, said the Edmonton-based O’Byrne, helps to move away from the dark, drab and dreary colder months and inspire the municipality to be designed as a place to live, work, play and study all year-round.
